Setup

Put on a dip belt and hang a plate, or hold a dumbbell between your feet. Grip slightly wider than your shoulders, hang, drop your shoulders. Pull until your chin clears the bar and lower to straight arms.

Execution

  1. Attach weight to a belt and hang from a bar with a grip wider than shoulders.
  2. Exhale and pull up until your chin clears the bar.
  3. Inhale and lower to a full hang under control.

Common mistakes

  • Adding weight too early — get 10–12 clean bodyweight reps first.
  • Short range with weight — use a smaller plate and go all the way down and up.
  • The weight swinging — start each rep from a dead hang.
  • Jumping 5 kg at a time — step up by 1–2.5 kg if you have small plates.
