Import workouts from CSV
Kept your training in a spreadsheet — Excel, Google Sheets or another app? Send me a CSV file and I'll move the history into your diary.
Step 1. Get the file ready
I need four columns: date, exercise, weight and reps. Set number and RPE are optional.
- Headers in English or Russian: date, exercise, weight, reps — I recognize them myself.
- Delimiter: comma, semicolon, tab or pipe. Excel and Google Sheets save differently, I figure it out.
- Dates: 2025-09-12, 12.09.2025 and other common formats. If a date can be read two ways, I tell you how I read it.
- A unit in the header — "Weight (lbs)" or weight_lbs — gets converted to your diary's units. No unit means I treat the weight as yours.
- No header row? In the bot I ask about the columns by number and show you the first row.
- The extension is .csv. In Excel: File → Save As → CSV. In Google Sheets: File → Download → CSV.
Notes instead of a spreadsheet? Paste them into the bot or the app as text — the AI coach reads them, and I show you the result before logging anything.
Step 2. Load it into the bot
- Open the bot and go to 🔧 Settings → 📥 Import CSV. While your diary is empty, the 📥 Import history from Hevy/Strong button sits right in the main menu.
- Send the CSV file as a document — as is, no edits.
- Check what I read and tap ✅ Upload all. Until then I log nothing.
Or load it into the iPhone app
- In the app, open Settings → Import CSV and pick the file. From Hevy it's shorter: pick Athlete Diary in the Share window.
- I show a preview: workouts, sets, units and the exercises I didn't recognize.
- All good — run the import.
What I do with the file
- Split it into workouts by start time and title — two workouts on one day stay two.
- No doubling up. A workout that's already in your diary (same start minute, or the same exercises on the same day) gets skipped, and I tell you how many.
- Match the names against the catalog and your own exercises. Where I'm unsure, I ask where it goes and don't import until you pick.
- Explain what I skip. Warm-ups, cardio, timed exercises and sets with no weight on a loaded exercise don't go in — but I say how many and why, with examples.
- Carry notes over for exercises and for workouts.
- Let you undo it. Landed wrong? "↩️ Undo import" removes exactly what I loaded: workouts, sets, the exercises it created and the badges they unlocked. You can undo within 30 days.
Bring your history over — and keep going from where you were.
