Setup

Get into a plank with your hands under your shoulders or a bit narrower. Body straight from heels to head, glutes and abs tight. Lower yourself with your elbows brushing your sides.

Execution

  1. Get into a plank with your hands closer than shoulder-width apart.
  2. Inhale and lower yourself until your chest nearly touches the floor, elbows tracking along your body.
  3. Exhale and press back up with your triceps.

Common mistakes

  • Putting your hands together in a diamond — it's hard on the wrists; shoulder width is enough.
  • Elbows flaring — keep them close.
  • Hips sagging — glutes and abs tight the whole set.
  • Not going all the way down — chest nearly touches the floor.
