Setup

Strap a cuff around your ankle and face a low pulley. Hold the frame and lean forward slightly. Take your straight or slightly bent leg back until your thigh is just behind your body.

Execution

  1. Get on all fours in front of the low pulley, cuff strapped to your ankle — starting position.
  2. Exhale and kick your leg back and up to hip height, squeezing your glute.
  3. Inhale and return it to the starting position. Switch legs.

Common mistakes

  • Kicking high and arching your lower back — the range ends where the arch begins.
  • Swinging your torso — keep it still.
  • Fast swings — pause at the top.
  • Locking your standing leg — keep a soft bend in the standing knee.
