Superset — two exercises back to back

Two exercises back to back with no rest in between; you rest after the pair. Saves time and suits opposing muscles.

The classic is opposing muscles: biceps curls and triceps pushdowns, a press and a row. While one group works the other rests, so you barely lose strength and the workout gets shorter. A superset of two exercises for the same muscle is a way to finish it off, not to save time: you'll need less weight on the second.

Heavy compound lifts — squats, deadlifts, a heavy bench — usually stay out of supersets: they need full rest, or both the weight and the technique suffer. For isolation work and 10–15 rep sets, supersets are great.

In the diary you log a superset with the Superset button — the two exercises' sets go in pairs and the summary counts as usual. How long to rest after the pair — the rest timer will help.

In the diary I work out all of these numbers myself — you just log the set.
